For Christmas this year my three children gave me a gift that read “You are the mom everyone wishes they had” talk about tears, those three little blessings from God that used to crawl up next to you in bed and cuddle ..suddenly become these amazing young adults. Receiving hugs is still the highlight of my day as they come and go. The echo of chaos and laughter is now silence and solitude. One child on her own, one about to leave and one with two years left of HS. They will leave our home but never our heart. It is the greatest feeling in the entire world watching them spread their wings and fly. They are way better at life than us and this feels amazing. Observing them as young adults provides so much joy. The letting go is like watching a speck of sunlight in the most amazing river travel with the current, an energy of awe breathtaking in the best way. So parents please don;t fall for the holding on tight as you can wondering how time passess so quickly..feeling guilty. SHIFT drop to your knees and say thank you God for this gift of being a parent! Ask yourself powerful questions so when the time comes you live without regret, teach them the right lessons, read to them when you can, spend time listening and playing just because, say sorry when you mess up (no but included) , hug them everyday, tell them how lucky you are to have them, and MOST importantly show them unconditional love!!!!!! SO when the time comes and your blessing called children leave your home you can embrace with excitement the next chapter whatever it is, their next chapter? …..When it’s time for them to go, it will not hit you like a ton of bricks, it will feel like you have opened a space in this wonderful amazing world to watch them spread the wings and soar so high they touch the sky!
So my message to my clients and to the parents I get to work with everyday is to pray to God, ask him to fill your heart, your children’s heart and welcome the energy of God into your home and trust that God will protect them as they start to make their way into the world. Being a parent is a gift and it has been the most amazing experience of my life. I learned to walk back home because of my children, yes I messed up and yes I wish I had the knowledge and wisdom I have today but not for one moment would I change anything because everyday I get to wake up knowing I did my best and that is enough, hugs???Hugs
